Journey Tracker Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Journey Tracker collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Journey Tracker app and related services (the "Service").

The Service is designed for adults only and is not intended for anyone under 18.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

A. Account and authentication information: Depending on how you sign up, we may receive your email address and basic profile information from authentication providers (e.g., Apple or Google). If you create an email/password account, we collect the name and email you provide. We also store which login methods are linked to your account.

B. User content you provide: Photos you upload (progress photos, thumbnails, collection avatars), and related metadata you enter or that is necessary for the Service (e.g., collection title, photo titles/descriptions, dates).

C. Profile picture: If you upload a profile picture, we store it and basic related information (e.g., file type/extension). We also store a flag indicating whether you have a profile picture.

D. Push notification information: If you enable reminders, we store settings such as reminder preferences and your device’s push notification token (used to deliver notifications).

E. Device and app information: We collect technical information such as app version/build, device model, iOS version, and diagnostic information related to crashes and app performance.

F. Analytics and usage information: We collect event data about how you use features (e.g., creating collections, uploading photos, viewing comparisons, sharing actions, notification actions).

G. Support communications: If you contact us by email, we receive the information you include in your message and attachments.

3. Information We Do Not Intend to Collect

We do not design the Service to collect precise geolocation.

However, photos on your device may contain embedded metadata (for example, timestamp and, depending on your device settings, location). When you upload a photo, that metadata may be included unless removed by your device, your settings, or our processing.

If you want to reduce the risk of location leakage in photos, you should disable location tagging for your camera and avoid uploading photos that include sensitive metadata.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

A. Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, store and retrieve your photos and related metadata, show comparisons, and allow exports/sharing you initiate.

B. Deliver reminders: Send notifications you request, at times and intervals you configure.

C. Maintain security and integrity: Authenticate users, prevent unauthorized access, detect abuse, rate-limit certain operations, and protect our systems.

D. Improve the Service: Understand usage patterns, troubleshoot issues, fix bugs, and improve performance and user experience.

E. Communicate with you: Respond to support requests and important service announcements.

5. How We Store Photos and Protect Access (Important)

Your uploaded photos are stored in private cloud storage and are not publicly listed by default.

We use a security model designed to limit access to your content to you, including authenticated access controls and short-lived, time-limited URLs to upload or download media.

We also use encryption in transit and storage protections offered by our infrastructure providers.

Despite these measures, no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. See the Security section below for details and important limitations.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

A. Service providers: We use vendors to operate the Service, such as authentication, database hosting, crash reporting, analytics, push notifications, and media storage/delivery providers. These vendors process information on our behalf under their terms and security practices.

B. At your direction: When you choose to share images or text using your device’s sharing features, information is disclosed to the third-party apps/services you select.

C. Legal and safety: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect our rights and safety, or protect users or the public.

D. Business transfers: If Journey Tracker is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers (for example, Apple, Google/Firebase, and Amazon Web Services). Their processing of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

We are not responsible for third-party services you use in connection with the Service (including social media platforms and messaging apps used for sharing).

8. Security (Important: No Absolute Guarantee)

We implement measures designed to protect your information, including access controls, secure authentication, short-lived upload/download links for media, and monitoring/diagnostics intended to detect and reduce failures and abuse.

However, security is not absolute. Risks can include device compromise, phishing, credential theft, misdelivery when sharing, vulnerabilities in third-party services, or other factors outside our control.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and accounts. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us promptly.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We generally retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

You may be able to delete photos, collections, and your account within the app. When you delete content, we take steps designed to remove it from our active systems and storage, subject to technical constraints and reasonable time to process deletion.

We may retain limited information where necessary for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, backups, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.

10. Your Choices and Controls

You can control certain aspects of the Service, including:

A. Notifications: You can enable or disable reminders in the app and in iOS settings.

B. Content: You can add, edit, and delete collections and photos. You can also export and share content using iOS sharing tools.

C. Account: You may be able to update account details (such as display name) and delete your account within the app (if available in your version).

11. International Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than where you live, including in the United States, depending on where our service providers operate.

We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.

12. Children’s Privacy (No Minors)

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

If you believe a minor has used the Service or provided information to us, contact us and we will take steps to investigate and address the issue, including deletion where appropriate.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated Privacy Policy means you accept the updated policy.
